While running in Priyadarshini park, Shriyans came across Ramesh who had his old shows on and was re-using them. He approached Ramesh and suggested to him that they should take this further.
A competition for innovators was being held at the Jai Hind college they applied for that.
They entered the competition at EDI Ahmedabad where they got a very positive response within a month, they were on the top 30 innovators list.
From research, they found out that 35 crores pairs of shoes are discarded every year and they end up in landfills that turn into a mountain of the waste but the genius friends felt that these discard shoes can be reused and that was it.
Shriyans and Ramesh launched Greensole in 2015.
You see there was clearly a mismatch in people throwing away old shoes while some have no shoes at all and he thought Greensole could bridge that gap.
Traveling to school, his feet would burn in the heat get thrones in them and pick up many diseases without shoes. So, he knows the kind of problems they face.
Even today, there are villages where children walk to school barefoot to these children Greensole's gift to footwear is something incredibly precious.
To date, Greensole has donated over 3 lakh pairs of shoes in 2000 schools across 15 states and they plan to donate 5 lakh shoes by 2020.
Grrensole's huge initiative has brought about a huge change to the children's life their attendance has greatly increased. Now every student wears shoes for school they are happy to come to school.
