India's First Teeth Archer

Somebody is practicing archery here in Nagpur, Maharashtra.

Somebody is using his teeth to shoot the arrows?
How can one do archery with his teeth?

Yes, this is  Abhishek Thaware he uses his teeth to hit the bullseye!

When he grew up, he asked his parents what was wrong with his hand they told him that he had polio then he started his journey when he was in grade 8. He started getting interested in sports he started doing athletics and playing with normal people.

His right hand had weekend due to polio but Abhishek was so interested in sports that he'd become a national level athlete in the normal category. He won many medals in the school in the 5 and 10-kilometer race categories and in marathon race as well.

But on 26th October 2010, a knee injury changed his life and he had to give up running.

After 2 years, when he thought what he should do his cousin Sandeep Gavai told him to take up archery but his right arm and shoulder were not strong enough to shoot arrows.

So, his cousin, Sandeep Gavai advised him to use his teeth which were never heard of in India.
In the beginning, Abhishek struggled a lot to use his teeth for pulling the strings.

Abhishek was mentally very strong that is what archery demands when he started, He was given less poundage and a target of 8 lakh that he has to pull it 8 lakh times his coach used to take almost a month to do it 8 lakh times but Abhishek used to achieve the target within a few days and today he is pulling 50-60 kg poundage by his teeth even if you ask a wrestler to do it he won't be able to pull that much it requires a lot of strength.

The pull weight required to pull an arrow is called draw weight or poundage.
It is not an easy task to pull 50-60kg poundage and since Abhishek does it with his teeth it puts a lot of pressure on his neck and shoulder.

While practicing, he injured his neck and shoulder a number of times. Abhishek was already passionate about sports and about winning medals for his country.

Abhishek's day start's at 4 am after getting fresh, he used to go for physical training. The training extended to 6 am. Their practice begins at 7 am practiced till 11 am or 12 pm regularly after 12 pm it was lunchtime after lunchtime he practiced from 4 pm to 8 pm.

Abhishek has won many medals in the state and district levels but now he wants to represent India on the world stage and prove his talent.

With a dream to win gold for India in the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics, he spends his entire day practicing.

It's his dream to represent  India

His right hand might be paralyzed but his dedication, hard work, and hope have made him
"INDIA'S FIRST TEETH ARCHER "
