This is Palnar, a small village whose people have transformed it from no digital to digital in just a few months.
361 km, away fro Raipur is Situated Palnar village. In this Kova Konda block of this village, 432 families reside here and the total population here is 2000
What is unique about this village is that this is Chhattisgarh's first totally digital village. A month after demonetization Palnar became totally cashless.
According to statistics from January 2017 to April 2017, the village did digital transactions worth 5.5 Lakhs. 60 % of the transactions that happened through a digital medium that even beat metro cities like Mumbai and Delhi whose percentages were 40-45%.
Palnar's success story is a true inspiration today in every shop here. there are e-wallets and apps for making digital payments and all the people here use these apps.
But how did all this happen?
Well, the answer is some determination and some inspiration.
One company set up its fiber optic cable for its personal use fortunately, this cable was passed through this village so the district collector decided to make this village a modern village and requested the line to be extended to the village of Palnar.
Then the digital hub for Palnar was established the volunteers were given a crash course in digital technology and a blink of an eye Palnar did what most mega cities in India could not achieve.
The local panchayat played a very important role in helping the villagers make a seemingly difficult transition.
The people were first scared but today through PAYTM buy their daily goods they have facilities for cashless transactions. Sometimes they feel like they are even more advanced than the cities.
Namdalji and his Panchayat approached BSNL to install a wifi hotspot.
This Wi-fi hotspot became a game-changer and then people in Palnar started using the internet.
If you think that people here use the internet only for banking then my friend you are sadly mistaken.
Let's meet Mr. Ramdev Sori he is one of several budding entrepreneurs who have used the internet to help find their feet.
We are such fools that use the internet only for social media there are people over here who have invented stuff with the help of the internet.
There are people over there who have invented stuff with the help of the internet
So he has invented this which helps you to climb poles and you can fix stuff if it's spoilt.
Palnar's small shops have now become micro ATMs where withdrawals and deposits are done via Aadhaar card but going digital was not just about going cashless.
Some family members are going far away for work some have gone away for labor and some are doing Government jobs and hence they would not see their children for years together.
After, going cashless village changed completely by going digital, it did not only help to make payments easy but also helped them in communicating with each other.
Hospitals and medical facilities are also at a click of a button away. Palnar has truly embraced the digital revolution to enhance their lives in the most positive way.
