Sanjay Gandhi Transport Nagar. This is Asia's largest trucking stopover point that has spread across 75 acres of land. It's said that a minimum of 70,000 trucks are always parked here and every day, at least 20,000 trucks pass by masterworks in this dusty smoky and hot atmosphere who is known for the truck repairing skills throughout India. Many drivers blindly hand over their trucks to this master.

MS. SHANTI DEVI she's 55 years old and it's believed that she's the first women truck mechanic of India.
I'm different from everybody because I have never seen anybody doing the work I do. There are only men here there are no women. I don't fear anybody I don't feel embarrassed too.
It was tough in the beginning people used to doubt my skills and taunt me that it's not my cup of tea I should give up an let my husband do it. My husband would say it's wrong and that I can do something that he can't I would prove him right.
After marriage, Shanti Devi tried her hands at many works, for instance, tailoring, farming She even drove rickshaw but nothing worked out but the decision to open a tea stall in this truck stop changed her life. Because after a few years her husband opened a mechanical shop here. Shanti Devi decided to support her husband to run the business better and make the family financially stronger. Sh's the only woman who does something that men do. Today she proves every day by her work that she's better than many male mechanics. But, she had to face many problems in the beginning. Let's hear about it from her.
MS. SHANTI DEVI has shown that with being physically strong her hard work, nature to never give up and her highly motivated attitude has helped her prove the critics wrong. The customers are happy with her quick service or fixing the truck in a bad condition. Not just that, she also has regular customers I have never seen a lady doing any work related to trucks be it tire fitting, mechanical. We feel really shocked to see a lady doing such work.
When the magical hands of MS. SHANTI work on the trucks who are busy 12 hours a day and seven days a week faulty trucks become ready to be driven. She at least changes 10-15 tires or fixes so many punctures in a day.
A well-inflated tire of a truck when it's completely ready it weighs around 50 kilograms.
Oh, my God! She lifts a tire weighing 50 kilograms.
Indian truck expert, MS. SHANTI DEVI who has just passed class two has not undergone any formal training. But, today she gives motivational speeches about facing educational and professional challenges in several schools and colleges.
Many people assume that women are made only to do simple jobs. But MS. SHANTI DEVI'S determination and literally powerful hands have to change the thinking.
